July 06 Monthly Challenge

I've been completely negligant, negligent?, whatevs, anyway, I'm sorry. I have a ton of pictures, movies, and information to add, but unfortunaltey I leave for Canadia tomorrow to look at particle accelerators so I have to pack. As soon as I get back I will be posting tons of stuff. It's time for a new MONTHLY CHALLENGE.

Since I'll be gone here is the monthly challenge for July.

Robot Walker

You must build a robot that can move without the use of wheels, treads, or something akin to it. So you cannot just have the axles attached to the motors and have the axels moving. You may not use balloons to power your robot, or any non vex parts except for rubber bands, deodorant, and a note book. It must be able to cover the distance of at least one foot. The faster the better.

June '06 Unclaimed Balloon Popper
May ’06 Unclaimed Egg Pickup
April ’06 Riley McArdle Quarter Pickup

Today, I unfortunatley decided to cancel some code while it was downloading. My RC is now dead. My friend did it as well earlier, and the same thing happened. WARNING!!! Let all your code finish downloading. I haven't found a solution yet. If someone reading this does though, email me, at nathan doc bixler at gmail doc com.

Pre Registration for Vex

FIRST has begun the preregistration for next years VEX (FVC) competition. I'll post more news as I get it. I haven't heard anything about anything yet, but it should be starting soon. As you know, we learn the game in mid october, and have six months. I eagerly await the games arrival.

And, just to make sure you guys haven't forgotten, last month's challenge remains unclaimed, and there is currently one in progress now.

Look what we won!

So we didn't do that well at the competition. We couldn't get the variables down in time, so we are off a lot. We put a good show on. But we did win the programming award. I was one programmer, the other was Remy. Remy was the programmer for the complicated fly wheel bot. However, the night before, the fly wheel was taken off, and replaced with something similar to Nathan and I's tread. I'm not sure how their autonomous was, but we won! Here's a pic.

Part II

Here is part 2 of the june 10th competition robot. We still dont' have a name, I'm thinking past Mars rovers names, Spirit Opportunity, etc. If you have suggestions please give me some. Anyway, the code for that bot is about 110 lines, took me forever.
